Huntsville Hospital for Women and Children is a stand-alone facility dedicated to caring for women, infants, children and adolescents. Established in 2002, the hospital offers the region's most comprehensive and experienced maternal and child health programs. Annually, there are an average of 5,000 births and 16,000 admissions. Huntsville Hospital for Women & Children is the only one of its kind in the region with a 16-bed Pediatric ER; 11 bed PICU; 45 bed NICU; 40-bed Pediatric Inpatient facility treating infants up to 18 years of age; and one of six St. Jude Children's Research Hospital affiliate clinics for Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. The hospital boasts a draw area of one million plus, with the nearest PICU in Birmingham or Nashville, each almost two hours away.
