Advanced Cardiac Life Support
ACLS courses are designed for health care providers who have extensive medical training in the treatment of cardio-pulmonary emergencies. AHA ACLS initial certification is through the provider course and renewed through the Heartcode system. Certification is valid for two (2) years. A study guide is available for your review.

ACLS Instructor Course
The purpose of an ACLS Instructor Course is to develop proficiency in teaching, organizing and conducting a provider course. ACLS Instructors must have a firm working knowledge of the ACLS material. They are also expected to demonstrate in-depth factual knowledge of emergency cardiac care. Participants learn to design a provider course to meet the needs of a particular student population. Currently accepted principles of adult learning, the use of interactive teaching strategies, and the ability to sequence instruction and evaluate progress are essential parts of the course. Participants are required to have a current CPR card, and a current ACLS Provider card.
All classes are held at Huntsville Hospital’s Corporate University housed in the Dowdle Center, located at 109 Governors Drive, SW in Huntsville, Alabama.
ACLS HeartCode System
Corporate University offers this excellent tool — a computerized, self-paced learning experience that, when completed, results in an AHA ACLS card for renewal purposes. Employees will need to contact their department educator. Non-employees will contact Rosita Karigan at rosita.karigan@hhsys.org.
