"Project Search" Program
Beginning in the fall of 2013, Huntsville Hospital has partnered with the ARC of Madison County and Huntsville City Schools to provide a "Project Search" Program for our community. The goal of the program is to provide job-ready training for potential employment for special needs students.
Key Components of the Program
Participants go through three 10-week training rotations, through which they learn skills for key job areas. Job coaches and teachers train and guide students through the learning process. The overall program falls within the same time allotted the public school day and annual calendar. Selection begins six months prior to the program's start time. More information will be posted in the spring of 2014 concerning the selection process.
Established Through a Community Partnership
This program has been made possible through a partnership with the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation, the Department of Mental Health and the Alabama Developmental Disabilities Council. The ARC of Madison County, and Huntsville City Schools have contributed guidance and staff to make the program possible. To learn more about Project Search, visit their website.
