Huntsville Classic: An Event to Remember!
Dr. Philip McGee, Dr. Beth Falkenberg, Dr. Dan and Paula Kingsley, Scarlett and Dr. Brian Mathews, and Dr. Dennis Fernandez and his wife, Nancy Regan supported the Huntsville Classic which raised funds for Oncology programs. |
The 21st annual Huntsville Classic was a tremendous success! Legendary country music star Randy Travis wowed the crowd of more than 5,000 people at the Dinner at the Von Braun Center Arena on May 15. The next day, 280 golfers teed it up for a cure at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Course at Hampton Cove. Proceeds from the Classic will benefit Huntsville Hospital’s Oncology Unit and the Lab and will help provide Vein Viewers, a GeneXpert, and funding toward the Robin Lanier Stewart Memorial Fund, which provides medication assistance for cancer patients in need. Thanks to everyone who made this year’s Huntsville Classic an event to remember! Click here to see more pictures.
Millennium Society Women Fund Robot

On Tuesday, April 21, the Foundation hosted its annual Millennium Society Member-Guest Luncheon that included a special appearance by accomplished actor Ned Vaughn, son of Foundation Trustee Helen Vaughn and her husband, Ed. Ned, who traveled from Los Angeles to attend the luncheon, has been in countless TV shows – most recently in Heroes and 24 - and several successful movies such as Apollo 13, The Hunt for Red October and many more.
In addition to hearing about Ned’s exciting career at the event, members of the Society also voted to fund a da Vinci Robotic System for Gynecological Surgery. Robotic technology has seen great success in procedures for the vast majority of gynecologic conditions – from endometriosis and uterine fibroids, to the most complex ovarian and uterine cancers – and without large incisions, which means that the patient can heal more quickly, within days rather than weeks.
