Angels for Children at Huntsville Hospital was established in 1987 to assist Huntsville Hospital Foundation in raising funds for pediatrics and nurseries at Huntsville Hospital for Women & Children.
The Angels also play an instrumental role in educating the public about the medical care and services provided for infants and children at the hospital.
Angel funding provides lifesaving equipment for the pediatric and nursery units, and funding for the hospital's Child Life Program.
Welcome New Angels!
The Angels for Children Coordinating Council hosted a Member/Guest Wine Tasting on May 5 at the home of Cindy Gray. More than 100 people attended to find out more about the Angels for Children – who we are and what we do – and we all enjoyed celebrating a wonderful year of support for our hospital’s youngest patients! Here's how YOU can help:
The following events simply require your time one day out of the year, but your help is certainly needed and very appreciated!
The Autumn Chase Fun Run, a one-mile race held in the fall, is much anticipated every year by children, ages 4 through 8th grade, all over the Tennessee Valley.
The Liz Hurley Ribbon Run, held in October, raises vital funding which supports breast cancer research and equipment at Huntsville Hospital. Your volunteer support will help us make a difference!
The BMW Brunch, held in November, is a favorite Foundation event for people in our community. Please help us by assisting in our Children's Area.
Love decorating for the holidays? Join us for a day of decorating at Huntsville Hospital for Women & Children - you'll be spreading holiday happiness throughout the hospital!
Let's Pretend Hospital, held in the Spring, is a program designed for first-graders to help reduce the fear and anxiety they may experience if they must be hospitalized or visit the Emergency Room. It’s a favorite field-trip for first-graders, and you can be right in the middle of it!
The Preemie Reunion Party, also held in the Spring, celebrates the lives of children who were patients in our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. These special two-year olds and their families are reunited with the neonatologists and NICU nursing staff. This event really warms your heart!
Swim for Melissa is an annual event which raises funds for the Melissa George Neonatal Memorial Fund. Children ages 5-14 years old put on their swim caps for the cause, and families enjoy a day full of fun and activities.
Have a little more time to give? Consider one of these monthly volunteer opportunities.
Help our visitors select that perfect gift for their special patient by working in our Gift Shop.
Special Events, such as a Thanksgiving Lunch and a Mardi Gras Parade, are held monthly for our Pediatric patients. Help us by volunteering to serve cookies, assist with crafts, and lots of other fun stuff!
Making Pre-surgery Calls is a perfect project with time flexibility. Angels are needed to call and invite pediatric surgery patients and their parents to a special pre-surgery hospital tour.
The Gift Committee is proud to sponsor Raise-A-Reader, a program that provides all of Huntsville Hospital’s new moms with a gift bag filled with information on the importance of reading to their child, a letter written by First Lady Laura Bush, and even a coupon for a free book! Can you help us by assembling these packets once every other month?
Teens for Children - Teens for Children are teenage volunteers who support various activities and events throughout the year. It’s a great opportunity to build a college resume while helping our youngest patients! Stay tuned for Teens for Children benefits!
