Anorectal Biofeedback

Mostly used for incontinent patients, a series of exercises are taught involving tightening of the rectal sphincter muscles. The nurse provides the patient with a biofeedback monitor which helps the patient to determine if their exercises are adequate or should be altered. The biofeedback monitor is available to the patient for two weeks. This procedure can also be performed for patients with chronic constipation.

There are no preparations needed for this procedure.
