Athlete of the Week for September Week 2
Stanley Blake Chapman
Sparkman High School
Sports: Football and Baseball
Our first male Athlete of the Week is making sure that when he graduates from high school, there won’t be much he didn’t accomplish during his time at Sparkman High School. Stanley Blake Chapman is a Sparkman senior and a force to reckon with on both fields: football and baseball. Stanley has done an outstanding job in not only being selected to his varsity baseball and football team, but he’s stood out from the rest and was a letterman each year, in each sport. His hard work paid off in 2012 when he was named team captain of the Sparkman Senators varsity football squad. Stanley will admit that is one of his greatest accomplishments, but what he’s best known for, not just at school, not just around the area, but around the state is for holding the school and state record for the longest kick-return for a touchdown in a game. That is quite an accomplishment for a young man who is just beginning his senior year. In the classroom, the results are much the same. Stanley carries a strong 4.05 GPA in to his senior year and has made the “A” honor roll for the past three years. He was chosen to the Boys State program in 2012 and also to the LEAD program at the University of Pennsylvania which is a program introducing minority high school students to key areas of business. When not expanding his athletic and academic accomplishments, Stanley takes pride in volunteering his time at the local Soup Kitchen to help the underprivileged as well as helping with Christmas Charities Year Round and with local coat and can drives. Congratulations, Stanley!
