Athlete of the Week for September Week 3
Columbia High School
Sports: Volleyball and Basketball
Our third Athlete of the Week for the month of September was meant to be chosen as an Athlete of the Week. With a name like "Destiny", it WAS her Destiny to do great things and be recognized for those fantastic achievements. Destiny Reynolds is a senior at Columbia High School and she has blazed a trail of greatness throughout her career inside the halls and on the court of Columbia High. First, she's a force to be reckoned with on the court. Not just the volleyball court, but also the basketball court. She was named as the school's basketball Defensive Player of the Year and received honorable mention on the All-City basketball team. Moving the net from the ends to the middle, she becomes a very formidable volleyball player. One that has earned her All-Tournament honors by her peers and coaches, but also being named team captain by her teammates. In the classroom, Destiny raises the bar by maintaining a solid 3.85 GPA; good enough to make the Honor Roll and place her in Advanced Placement classes. She holds the highest average in several math classes and makes the end result look very easy. Away from her responsibilities at Columbia High School, Destiny stays heavily involved with the sports she loves, basketball, and shares that devotion to the game by teaching younger players at basketball camps around the Tennessee Valley. She also makes time to help out in the school's concession stand when her team isn't playing. Congratulations, Destiny!
