Athlete of the Week for September Week 4
Huntsville High School
Sports: Football and Swimming
Our final Athlete of the Week for the first full month of the school year is someone that will make any future institution very happy. There's a popular movie titled, "Get Carter" and that sentiment will hold true for many colleges and universities when they see this young man's resume. Karter Smith is leaving his mark in cement at Huntsville High School. First, let's begin with his perfect 4.3 GPA. PERFECT! He's been named AP Scholar, member of the National Honor Society, Math Honors Society and Latin Honor Society, just to name a few. He's made the HHS Honor Roll each and every year of high school, and there's no reason to believe he won't his final year at Huntsville High. From the classroom to the field, Karter puts his braun to work for the Crimson and White. He’s been a member of the varsity squad for two years and named to the All-City team, as well as being recognized as the outstanding defensive player on the team. While suiting up for the Crimson Panthers, Karter also took a dive for the swimming team. His talents qualified him for the Alabama State High School Swim Championships and earned recognition to the Huntsville Times Elite Swim Team last year. He even dabbled in wrestling and was voted to the All-City Team. After classes and practice, Karter continues that winning effort in his community. He's been a peer tutor for elementary students, as well as a swim coach. He's volunteers at Manna House for four years and is very active at his church where he is a member of the youth group. Karter does an amazing job balancing football and swimming, school work and community work all at the same time. That is why he is our Athlete of the Week of the last week in September. Congratulations, Karter!
