Athlete of the Week for October Week 1
Ardmore High School
Sports: Volleyball, Basketball and Soccer
If you head North on Alabama Highway 53 out of Huntsville, in about 30 minutes you'll run in to the town of Ardmore. If there is one thing Ardmore is known for, it's their love of sports and their loyalty to their Tigers. This week, they're known for introducing us to Lydia Eubanks and making her our Athlete of the Week for the first week of October 2012. From what this "Fighting Tiger" has already accomplished, she is leaving behind a legacy at the high school that many hope future students will model during the course of their high school career. Beginning with her athletic accomplishments, she's the leader of the pack. Whether she's spiking, shooting or kicking the ball, Lydia is the one person her team looks to for leadership. She's been named Team Captain of her varsity soccer, volleyball and basketball team. She's been named to the All-County volleyball team and twice to her basketball team. And she was voted "Most Athletic" by her senior peers. In the classroom, it would seem she is the Captain of the Honor Roll, also. Lydia carries a stout 4.37 GPA, which has earned her a spot on the A-Honor roll since her freshman year. She's in the top 5 of students who carry the highest grade average in ALL subjects and ranks third in her graduating class. When school life takes time off, Lydia clocks-in and becomes a "Captain" in her community. She's volunteered at the local food bank and with her church. She's helped at the local elementary school with books fairs and field days, but has also taken her love of basketball and coached young players during summer camps. She's an all-around leader and we're happy to call her our Athlete of the Week. Congratulations, Lydia!
