Athlete of the Week for October Week 3
Bob Jones High School
One of the most difficult things for any athlete to deal with is the off season. That time of the year for the intense competitor when they're not practicing as much as they'd like and not playing as much as they'd like. For our next Athlete of the Week, though she may not be knocking the ball around the diamond in mid-October, she's certainly "hitting" her stride in the classroom and earning the recognition from those around her. Amy Carden isn't just another player on the Bob Jones High School
Varsity Softball team, waiting for the spring to roll around again. She's making her mark up and down the halls of the Madison City School and all around her community. Amy has been a starter for the Varsity Lady Patriots since her sophomore year, earning such accolades as being selected to the North All-Star team for the state of Alabama and receiving honorable mention on the Alabama Elite Softball Team. She earned the "Hustle" and "Clutch" award from her teammates, and if there were similar awards for academics, she would likely win those as well. Amy sports a solid 4.02 GPA at Bob Jones, is ranked in the top 20 percent of her graduating class and was recognized as an All-American Scholar Athlete by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). The hustling doesn't end there. Amy is heavily involved in her community. She's an active member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and is a group leader at her local church. She participates in various acts of community service every month and gladly gives back by donating much of her free time around Thanksgiving and Christmas. Congratulations, Amy!
