Athlete of the Week for December Week 1
Whitesburg Christian Academy
Sport: Volleyball, Tennis and Basketball
As we approach the holidays and the end of the year, it seems there are simply are not enough hours in the day to accomplish all the things we set out to do. Then we come across young scholastic-athletes like Allison Clark who remind us that if you set your mind to something, you have all the time in the world. Allison attends Whitesburg Christian Academy and is the first Athlete of the Week for the month of December. She has proven to be a person her schoolmates can look up to, based mainly on the amount of success she has garnered throughout her high school career, both on and off the court. Allison took on several sports early on, and she has been quite successful. From the tennis court, where she has played at the varsity level since the seventh grade and won an MVP award, to the volleyball court where she started varsity since the eighth grade and was named Team Captain, to the basketball court, Allison has proven she puts forth 100 percent effort. It is that effort that earned her the ASCI Distinguished Christian High School Student Athlete Award. Her 4.0 GPA places her firmly on the WCA honor roll and in the National Honors Society. Her academic success has been well documented by her school and has earned her a Certificate of Achievement for Leadership her senior year. Just when you think this bustling senior could not put any more on her plate, we learn that Allison gives back to those who need help. She has accumulated more than 100 hours of community service through clean-up projects, summer youth volunteer programs and mentoring campaigns at her local church. She also helped make the 2011 WCA prom one to remember as a member of the prom committee. Congratulations, Allison!
