Athlete of the Week for March Week 3
West Morgan High School
Sports: Football, Baseball, Basketball, Track and Field
You hear the saying, “He’s got a good head on his shoulders” quite often when describing people who seem to have all their affairs in order. You would expect to hear this when someone is describing a successful businessman, someone serving the armed forces or even someone sticking to and finishing a community project. You wouldn’t expect to say the same of an eighteen year-old high school senior. But, that’s what we have in Matthew McCulloch, this week’s Athlete of the Week for the third week of March 2012. Even though he has only two hands, you can find them involved in numerous sport, school and community organizations. Beginning with athletics, Matthew has a love for all sports. He’s a four-year football player and team captain. Matthew is also a baseball, basketball and soccer player, as well as participating in track and field. He’s received honorable mention and “Player of the Game” recognition as a football player. He’s even has even found a way to take his commitment to his church and apply it to sport by being a post-game prayer leader for both the football and basketball team. His church is where you can find Matthew during much of his free time. He’s dedicated his off-time to helping others through the Red Cross and other relief projects. Going back to school, this West Morgan senior is blazing a trail to graduation, and along the way he’s taking a solid 3.73 GPA with him, along with his dual enrolment at Calhoun Community College and all the outreach work he’s done and accolades he’s acquired throughout this high school career. Congratulations, Matthew!
