Athlete of the Week for April Week 2

Taylor Dahlgren

Taylor Dahlgren
Bob Jones High School
4.62 GPA
Sport: Cross Country

The saying, “The Complete Package”, is a phrase that is often overused to describe individuals, mainly athletes, who have all the qualities a leader is looking for in a person. In athletics, a coach is looking for the player that can do it all. The same could be said of a business owner who wants the best all-around employee. In the case of our next Athlete of the Week, one could argue that Bob Jones High School senior, Taylor Dahlgren IS the complete package. Starting in the classroom, Taylor is an ideal student. Her 4.62 GPA has positioned her at the number 14 ranking among her class of 737. She didn’t take the easy road to get there. Advanced Placement (AP) classes are part of her daily academic regiment and it has earned her the title of AP Scholar with Distinction. On her school’s Cross Country team, she has distinguished herself as a force to be reckoned with. As an integral part of the team, Taylor helped her Patriot teammates by being named as an All-State, All-Metro and All-Section Runner. In addition to the high honors award for her efforts, Taylor received numerous accolades from her school and teammates AND was recognized as part of the Huntsville Times Elite Cross Country Team. The pinnacle of Taylor’s athletic career could be measured by her nominations as a Wendy’s High School Heisman participant and for the Bryant-Jordan Foundation Scholar-Athlete Award. Despite several orthopaedic procedures to correct ailments, Taylor has persevered throughout her high school career. However, if you ask her, the one thing she is most proud of would be her involvement in so many charitable organizations. Inside Bob Jones High School, Taylor stays actively involved with the National Science Honors Society and National Honors Society. She was one of four representatives from her school to attend the “Girls State” program in Tuscaloosa. She is most active with FCA, where she organizes outreach functions and fundraisers. She has a passion to help those with disabilities. She is a “buddy”; helping children with disabilities play soccer and volunteers at a local center to help children with autism. Taylor also finds plenty of time to help at her local church and serve with local and international mission trips. Congratulations, Taylor!
