Athlete of the Week for April Week 4
Hazel Green High School
Sports: Track and Field, Cross Country and Cheerleading
With each positive step forward, there is always the potential for success. The key is to keep moving forward. If you keep moving forward, you’ll find yourself moving up. When you continue to move up, the end result will be finding yourself at the top of the mountain; or, in the case of our final Athlete of the Week for 2011-2012, the top of the pyramid. Mallory Kennedy isn’t just a successful cheerleader at Hazel Green High School. She has run her way to the top as a member of the track and field and cross-country teams. She broke in to the cheerleading world with a very successful freshman year of competition, where she placed second in the nation for All Girl Varsity Cheerleading and chosen by the Universal Cheerleading Association as an All-Star. The success culminated the following year when she was the winner of the 2010 National Cheerleading Competition in Orlando, Florida. Her ability to run and jump made her a perfect fit for the track and cross country teams. There she was Sectional winner, and eventually a state competitor in the 100m and 300m hurdles. Mallory even participated in the 2011 Junior Olympics in the 4x400m relay. When speaking academics, Mallory is in a full sprint to graduation. She’ll get there with a strong resume, which includes a 3.83 GPA, membership to the National Honors Society, National Art Society and having taken several advanced placement (AP) classes. She is also a member of the Student Council, Spanish Club, Art Club, Junior Civitan and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. This level of involvement can be found outside of Mallory’s classroom. She’s Vice President of the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America program. She’s also very involved in her church and is a mentor to others at Hazel Green High School. Congratulations, Mallory!
