Athlete of the Week for September Week 4
Huntsville High School
Sports: Football and Track
We wrap up our first full month of the school year with a young man who has managed to make a name for himself by “jumping” ahead of the class on and off the field. To better explain what we mean, let’s introduce you to Nathan Vardaman. Nathan is a senior at Huntsville High School who, with a vision of determination, caught the eye of his coaches as a prime candidate for Athlete of the Week. His athleticism has earned him a starting spot on the Panthers Varsity football squad, made possible by his amazing accomplishments in track and field. He’s garnered every possible track and field award you can receive. From being named “Top Freshman”, to “Most Valuable Player”, to holding the all-time school record for long jump, Nathan has vaulted in to a class of track and field contenders whose next accomplishment will be winning State Championships. In the classroom, it’s no different. Nathan’s 4.2 GPA has earned him spots in Advanced Placement (AP) classes and recognition for being the most outstanding student in those classes. He is an active member of the National Honors Society, Latin Honors Society and the Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics honors society. Succeeding in his community is a top priority for Nathan as he volunteers with local football camps, in and around his school with various improvement projects and with Manna House. Congratulations, Nathan!
