Athlete of the Week for October Week 1
Lee High School
Sports: Football & Baseball
Our first Athlete of the Week for October is building a reputation of greatness at Lee High School quicker than the NEW Lee High School can be built. Just like The Karate Kid found “balance”, Jamel Burruss has found the right balance in his life that allows him to excel in and out of the classroom. On the football and baseball teams, Jamel is a leader his teammates stand behind. He’s worked his way up the ladder to earn varsity letters for football and baseball, but more importantly, he’s earned the respect of his teammates being voted “Team Captain” on both teams. Straight “A” should be Jamel’s nick-name. He’s been on the “A” Honor Roll since 2007 with a solid 4.1 GPA. He’s ranked number-1 in his class and voted “Most Likely to Succeed.” Jamel is also a member of the National Honors Society, Beta Club and has been recognized by the United States Achievement Academy. Jamel understands that giving back is the key, which is why he never misses an opportunity to volunteer with the Huntsville Youth Volunteer Corps or for his church. Congratulations, Jamel!
