Athlete of the Week for October Week 1
Sparkman High School
Our first Athlete of the Week winner for October comes to us from Sparkman High School; a school that has built a strong reputation as being the place where you go to dance. In that crowd of dancers you’ll find one Senator who’s dancing to the beat of a different drummer and it’s leading her on a path of success. Allysa King has been a member of the Sparkman High School dance team for four years and a co-captain for the past two years. She was part of the Senators team who finished second in the nation at the 2011 National Dance Alliance competition. Allysa’s showing all the right moves that her skills are being sought by local church groups who want her to choreograph dances for church dance teams. When it comes to the books, Allysa doesn’t slow down for one beat. She carries a strong 4.04 GPA, which has earned her the Presidential Medallion at Sparkman High for maintaining an “A” average throughout her high school career. She’s managed to keep that strong GPA while taking advance placement classes and associating herself with the National Honors Society and her school’s student government. When things settle down a little for Allysa, she volunteers her time at a summer camp helping students prepare for their next year of schooling. She also takes her love of dance and shares her knowledge with underprivileged children who want to learn to dance. Congratulations, Allysa.
