Athlete of the Week for October Week 3
Pope John Paul II Catholic High School
Sports: Volleyball and Softball
What makes a student-athlete stand out from the rest of the group may not be one or two specific things, but rather an entire body of work that has spanned several years. The true stand-outs have been setting a precedent throughout their grade-school years that they may have dismissed as the norm for themselves, but described as exceptional to others. Those high standards were set by Anna Glosemeyer years ago and she has never lowered them an inch. This Pope John Paul II Catholic High School senior has worked hard to amass a solid 4.1 GPA, and she’s done this by solidifying herself on the A/B honor roll for the past six semesters. Most of her academic accomplishments stem from her love of science and art, and she still manages time for the National Honors Society. This Falcon flies high on the volleyball court, having been an intricate member of the 2009 and 2010 teams who went far in the post-season. Time will tell if this MVP can help carry her team to State in 2011 and carry over that success on to the softball field. Anna takes her time giving back to her community, too. She has taught volleyball to others at volleyball camps. She’s been an active member with her church, as well as active athlete representing her church in area play. Proudly, she serves as a volunteer at Safety City in Huntsville and for the March for Life campaign. Congratulations Anna!
