Athlete of the Week for November Week 2
Grissom High School
If there’s one thing student-athletes will tell you these days is that it takes more than good grades and great plays to define what kind of person you are or what kind of person you will become. It is how you act for others and what you offer to them that tells another side of who you are. Grissom High School senior Olivia Windsor is one of these people. Olivia belongs to several school based organizations, but her volunteer work in her community is quite astounding. She’s president of a high school fraternity focused on assisting Manna house. Olivia has also donated her time helping with the Boys and Girls Club, Toys for Tots and at area schools helping Kindergarten teachers. This community minded civitan can also be found heavily involved with local church youth groups, which most recently focused their resources to helping Alabama tornado victims. Olivia is as remarkable a student-athlete as she is a model citizen. She carries a 3.78 GPA and was chosen to the University of Alabama Capstone Leadership Academy. Olivia is a three-year starter for the Grissom Lady Tigers Volleyball team and an award winning defensive force to be reckoned with. She was named to the All-Metro, All-City and All-Area soccer team in 2010 and has been named to the Class 6A All-Area team in 2011. Congratulations, Olivia!
