Athlete of the Week for November Week 3
Boaz High School
Sports: Baseball, Football and Basketball
The term “Natural Ability” gets overused too often in our society. Too often people confuse natural ability with hard work, and vice-versa. If you will, you can take our next Athlete of the Week winner and put him right down the middle of both the natural ability category and hard work. Kyle Overstreet has been an athlete his entire life. Whether it’s baseball, football or basketball, Kyle is one of those athletes that must have a ball in his hands at all times. Though a very important member to both basketball and football teams, this Boaz High School senior’s true love can be found on a diamond; the baseball diamond. Kyle has made quite a name for himself as an outstanding infielder and pitcher for Boaz baseball, but he’s really making noise behind the plate. Kyle has set school records for home-runs, hits and batting average. He’s been named to All-Area teams, All-Baseball teams and even to All-American teams. Kyle just signed a scholarship to play baseball for the University of Alabama, where they’ll not only get a remarkable athlete, but an amazing student, as well. He carries a solid 3.55 GPA and is no stranger to the A/B honor roll. Kyle is also no stranger to standing out in his community. He has reached out through his local FCA group to help residents recover from storm damage and also, to mentor kids through sporting activities. Congratulations, Kyle!
