Athlete of the Week for December Week 1
Bob Jones High School
It’s a shame we have to wait so long in between Summer Olympic Games to see the latest Olympic talent. However, you might want to remember the name Phil Deaton in a few years as he may start being called the next Michael Phelps. This Bob Jones senior has known nothing but success in the water as a member of the Patriots swim team. He’s been a part of five high school state championship competition teams and holds two separate relay team state records. If he doesn’t make it in the water, he’ll be fine in corporate America. His 4.1 GPA is almost as strong as his backstroke, but his ACT score of 34 speaks for itself. Phil has been actively involved with the National Honors Society for the past two years and has recently joined the physics club. When he’s not giving swim lessons as an instructor, he’s spending what free time he has at the Madison Animal Rescue Foundation helping animals. Congratulations, Phil on being chosen Athlete of the Week.
