Athlete of the Week for December Week 2

Hayden Hamby

Hayden Hamby
West Morgan High School
4.0 GPA
Sport: Volleyball, Basketball and Softball

As wonderful as it would be to have the ability to touch something and have it turn to gold, we all know such power does not exist. In the case of our next Athlete of the Week, she may not necessarily turn everything she touches in to gold, but when it comes to being an outstanding student-athlete, she has that golden touch. A day in the life of Hayden Hamby may take her to the volleyball court, the basketball court or even the softball field. But a year in the life of Hayden Hamby may include numerous athletic accolades. This West Morgan High School senior has been awarded All-Area, All-County, All-Region AND All-State honors as a varsity volleyball star for the Rebels. She’s received the same honors as a basketball player for West Morgan, including being named the Decatur Daily Player of the Year, the Gatorade Player of the Year and most important of all, the Class 3A Player of the Year. Though a short stint, Hayden’s time on the softball team garnered her the same honors as those she received on the volleyball and basketball teams. She’s equally amazing in the classroom. Hayden sports a solid 4.0 GPA, which has allowed her membership in to the National Honors Society. She’s never been given a grade lower than an “A” her entire school career. While still in high school, Hayden is dual-enrolled at Calhoun Community College. She’s an active member of the Career and Community Leaders of America and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She teaches Sunday school at her church and will be attending Purdue University in the fall. Congratulations, Hayden!
