Terry Smith is entering his first year as the Assistant Athletic Trainer for Alabama A&M University. Terry grew up in Sparta, Wisconsin and later went to college at Adams State in Alamosa Colorado where he earned All-American honors as a wrestler. He graduated with undergraduate degrees in Athletic Training and Sport and Exercise Management. Terry later earned his Masters Degree in Exercise Physiology. His experience has included stops in Lake Orion Michigan where he covered all sports for Lake Orion High School. After two years, he went to Mauston, Wisconsin where he helped start a Sports Medicine Program for Mile Bluff Medical Center and helped provide coverage to four local high schools. In 1999 he became the head athletic trainer for Oklahoma Panhandle State where he was an instructor and covered all sports. He also held the role of strength and conditioning coach. In 2004 he took a position with Aurora University in Aurora, Illinois where he covered football, basketball and baseball. In 2006 he became the head athletic trainer at Aurora. Terry is certified with the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) as a certified athletic trainer. He also holds certifications with the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as well as the credential of Performance Enhancement Specialist with the National Academy of Sports Medicine. In his spare time he competes all over the country in Highland Games, Strongman, Olympic Weightlifting and Powerlifting.
