Learn how many calories you should consume each day with MedGem® testing and be more equipped to lose or maintain your weight. MedGem®, a simple breathing test, measures your oxygen consumption and calculates your resting metabolic rate (the number of calories burned at rest). Resting metabolic rate accounts for approximately 75% of your total metabolism. Total metabolism includes resting metabolic rate, lifestyle activities and exercise.

• Testing is $50 for members and $60 for non-members.
  Add an hour of private nutritional counseling for a total cost of $90 for members or $110 for non-members.
• Schedule an appointment by calling the Wellness Center at (256)265-WELL (9355).
• Appointments are approximately 30 minutes long.
• Do not eat, have caffeine or exercise within four hours of your appointment. Do not use any nicotine of any kind within one hour of your appointment.
