Datestoremember NewProgram20172018v2Huntsville Hospital School of Surgical Technology, located in the Dowdle Center at 109 Governors Drive, is a 10-month program designed to prepare an individual for an entry level surgical technologist position in the Operating Room.

The Huntsville Hospital School of Surgical Technology is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) upon the recommendation of the Accreditation Review Council on Education in Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (ARC/STSA).

Program Goals & Learning Domain:

1.   Promote skills in problem solving, critical thinking, and communication.
2. To provide the profession with competent Surgical Technologists for employment on the entry level.
3.    Provide an environment that promotes professional development and growth.

The Huntsville Hospital School of Surgical Technology follows the Accreditation Review Council on Education in Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (ARC/STSA) standards by "preparing competent entry-level surgical technologists in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills) and affective (behavior) learning domains".
Student/Graduate Achievement - NBSTSA Certification Exam (70% is national average)
 2016 - 42.8% ; 2015 - 100% ; 2014 - 100% ; 2013 - 86% ; 2012 - 83%

Coming Soon - New Program:

Huntsville Hospital will be offering a NEW PROGRAM for Surgical Technology.  The Huntsville Hospital School of Surgical Technology, located in the Dowdle Center at 109 Governors Drive, will be a 6- month non-accredited program designed to prepare an individual for an entry level surgical technologist position in the Operating Room. Education includes classroom and clinical rotations with a preceptor.  If selected for this program, students are considered a full-time (36 hours/week) Huntsville Hospital employee. A 3 year contract is required.

 *A position in the OR requires the employee to take call & be able to return on site within 30 minutes.  This is not required while in the program.
