Huntsville Hospital and the Heart Center, Inc. have led the development of cardiovascular care in our region for nearly four decades. In keeping with that tradition of leadership, we recently introduced a new breakthrough procedure to the North Alabama community.

Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is a less invasive alternative to treat patients with severe aortic stenosis, a progressive narrowing of the aortic valve that causes chest pain and shortness of breath in the aging population.

TAVR introduces a multi-specialty team approach to the care of complex cardiovascular disorders. The Heart Center has an established Valve Clinic, staffed with a dedicated, full time Valve Program Coordinator who works in close contact with cardiologists and cardiovascular surgeons with special interest and training in valvular heart disease.

For more information on TAVR at Huntsville Hospital, please contact Katherine Meier, RN, Valve Program Coordinator, at (256) 519-8287 (TAVR).
