Thanks to everyone who made the 4th Annual Liz Hurley Ribbon Run such a huge success. This year’s event was the biggest ever, with 2,759 runners taking part in the race!

And while money is still coming in, it looks like we will raise close to $100,000 for the Liz Hurley Breast Cancer Fund at Huntsville Hospital Foundation. That’s $30,000 more than last year’s Ribbon Run! All proceeds will help pay for the new Breast MRI machine at The Breast Center at Huntsville Hospital. Thanks to everyone who made the 4th Annual Liz Hurley Ribbon Run a race to remember!

Liz Hurley is an award-winning broadcast journalist who has been a popular fixture in Tennessee Valley television news since 1983. A respected news anchor on WAFF-TV in Huntsville, Liz has long been an advocate for women's health.

In 1998, Liz experienced first-hand "The Biggest Story of My Life" when she was diagnosed with breast cancer, a disease that had taken her mother when Liz was a child. Liz received extensive chemotherapy and underwent a double mastectomy. Her treatment and surgery were video documented so that Liz could encourage women to practice monthly self-examination and to share her experience.

Thousands of women are now better informed about breast health issues, thanks to Liz's efforts. In addition to personally counseling other women who suffer from the disease, Liz dedicates a large part of her time to issues that deal with the education, early detection, treatment and potential cure for breast cancer.

The Liz Hurley Breast Cancer Fund was established in 1999 and is administered by the Huntsville Hospital Foundation. The purpose of the fund is to support programs that create awareness about breast cancer, to purchase equipment for breast cancer treatment and to fund breast cancer research projects.
