Welcome to the family

Huntsville Hospital Health System is growing to better serve families in North Alabama and southern Tennessee.

Our previously announced partnerships with two fellow not-for-profit health systems, Marshall Medical Centers in Marshall County and Lincoln Health System in Lincoln County, Tenn., are both now in effect.

Marshall Medical Center South, a 150-bed hospital in Boaz, and its 90-bed sister hospital in Guntersville, Marshall Medical Center North, joined the Huntsville Hospital Health System on Oct. 1. Through the strategic integration agreement, the Marshall County Health Care Authority will benefit from the Health System’s group purchasing contracts, physician and staff recruitment efforts, quality initiatives, access to capital, and other opportunities.

“This new operating entity will be governed by the same local board and leadership who currently oversee Marshall Medical Centers, and the agreement provides new resources that will enable Marshall Medical to grow and operate more effectively in a rapidly changing environment,” said Marshall CEO Gary Gore. “We are excited to have a new partner in our effort to ensure the best healthcare possible for the people of our community.”

Combined, Marshall Medical North and South treat nearly 75,000 patients in their emergency rooms and deliver more than 1,000 babies each year.

Lincoln Health System, which includes the 59-bed Lincoln Medical Center, a long-term care facility and other medical services in Fayetteville, Tenn., became a Huntsville Hospital Health System affiliate on Sept. 10. The agreement is neither a purchase nor an acquisition, but it will allow Lincoln to access services and expertise from the Health System.

“Due to the increasing challenges facing small rural hospitals and health systems, Lincoln Health System has been looking to find a strategic partner for several years," said CEO Candie Starr. "We were in need of support and strength to face the hurdles ahead, and we are excited to have found this in a fellow non-profit health system so close to our own.”

Lincoln Medical Center is the first hospital in Tennessee to affiliate with Huntsville Hospital Health System. The system also includes Huntsville Hospital, Huntsville Hospital for Women & Children, Madison Hospital, Athens-Limestone Hospital, Decatur Morgan Hospital’s Decatur, Parkway and West campuses, Lawrence Medical Center in Moulton, Helen Keller Hospital in Sheffield and Red Bay Hospital in Red Bay.
