Cancellation of 2018 Autumn Chase Fun Run
After much consideration and discussion, we regret to announce that the 2018 Huntsville Hospital Fun Run will not be held this year. Our decision is due to the extensive construction that continues at John Hunt Park, the site of the annual Fun Run. Out of concern for the safety of the participating children, parents and event workers, as well as the unavoidable traffic and parking challenges, we have cancelled the 2018 event.
Please know that we considered alternate locations, but we do not believe that there is another appropriate site which can accommodate a one-mile running course for nearly 2,000 children and parking for up to 1,000 cars. Additionally, any alternate location would need to be available on a weekday, following the dismissal of school. Traffic congestion would be a major issue.
We are confident that the construction at John Hunt Park will be nearing completion in time for the 2019 Fun Run. Again, we regret that we must cancel this year’s event. It has been an annual tradition with the Huntsville Track Club for the past 37 years.
