Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine receives full FDA approval

The Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine used at our Community Vaccination Clinic and mobile vaccination events is now fully approved by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration for those 16 and older.

“The public can be very confident that this vaccine meets the high standards for safety, effectiveness and manufacturing quality the FDA requires of an approved product,” said acting FDA Commissioner Janet Woodcock.

In December 2020, the FDA granted emergency use authorization to make the Pfizer vaccine available to people 16 and older. The authorization was expanded in May to include those 12-15 years old. Pfizer said it plans to apply for full FDA approval in children ages 12 to 15 as soon as required data is available.
