Huntsville Hospital’s Patient Care Aide Program is designed to prepare an individual to understand and assist health care providers with a patient’s care during hospitalization. Classroom and clinical instruction will provide skills and knowledge for the student to apply when meeting the patient’s physical and psychosocial needs.
This is a non-accredited program, and students are not eligible to take the national certification exam. If selected for this program, students are considered a full-time (36 hours/week) Huntsville Hospital employee during the program. The four-week program meets Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The program includes didactic classroom training, simulation lab training and clinical rotations in in-patient nursing units with a preceptor. There are no prerequisites. You must be eligible to be a hospital employee.
A one-year contract is required. The contract states that after completion of the program, the participant will be a Huntsville Hospital Health System employee within the Madison County area for one year in exchange for the education received.
